HISTORIC HOME PLANS BUNGALOW HOUSE PLANS The American bungalow home grew out of the Craftsman tradition. But where Craftsman houses have a specific and distinct style bungalow house plans may adopt the details and decorations of a number of different styles. The bungalow home is low, ground hugging, with a large, single gable roofline. Usually of one story, or with a second story contained with the attic, the bungalow home adopts the materials and styles of its surroundings. In the Southwest bungalow homes may be finished in stucco with Mission Style details. In the North-East they may be shingled, with river rock porch columns. They can even take on the trappings of Colonial Revival and Queen Anne decorations. But they always remain bungalow homes, designed for simple, economical living.
